Jonathan has done more for Yoruba than Obasanjo – PDP

Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation in Oyo State has said President Goodluck Jonathan had done more the Yoruba nation than former President Olusegun Obasanjo, saying facts available showed that the race had fared distant better in the last four years of Jonathan’s administration in terms of recognition, appointment and provision of infrastructure in South-West
states.

Director, Media and Publicity of the organisation, Alhaji Kehinde Olaosebikan made the submission in a statement in Ibadan yesterday and made it available to the journalists, while reacting to a claim by the director of publicity, Osun State All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr Kunle Oyatomi, that the Yoruba race was suffering the most painful degradation under President Jonathan. Olaosebikand said all the known painful, vicious and fatal degradations and neglects suffered so far since 1999 by the Yoruba were inflicted on them by the national leader of the APC, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, describing the former president as a turn coat follower of the APC who had wickedly worked against the interest of the Yoruba nation and retarded the growth of the region with the long neglect of critical infrastructure in the South-West.

According to the PDP presidential campaign organisation, “Just like he has been doing to other parts of the country, President Goodluck Jonathan has been very fair to the Yoruba race, giving them deserving top government appointments and attending to the infrastructural decay in the South-West occasioned by the eight years of total neglect the region suffered in the hands of former President Obasanjo.

Olaosebikan said while Obasanjo saw no reason in giving Yoruba its due shares in federal appointments during his eight years tenure, President Jonathan had been forthright in ensuring that Yoruba gets its fair share which led to his support for Honourable Mulikat Adeola Akande from Oyo State to become the speaker of the House of Representatives, a move ferociously scuttled by Senator Tinubu. On infrastructural development, he explained that while Chief Obasanjo turned the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway into death traps, destroying scores of lives daily with his shameful inability to find solution to the degradation of the road for a total of eight years, President Jonathan did not only find solution to the road, work on its expansion and rehabilitation has reached over 60 percent in less than four years.
