NNPP adopts Jonathan as presidential candidate

The New Nigeria Peoples Party on Thursday adopted the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, as its candidate for the March 28 presidential election.
The development comes four days after the Peoples Party of Nigeria presidential candidate, Mr. Kelvin Allagoa, stepped down for Jonathan.

Addressing a press conference in Lagos, the chairman of the party, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, said that his party adopted President Jonathan because they believed the President started a project which should not be truncated now.

Aniebonam, noted that that the party is currently fielding candidates in 23 states of the federation in various categories including in Lagos State.

He said, “Jonathan is a man who talks less and does more. He is known for humility. If God was not with the President, a lot of things would have gone wrong in this country.

“We took a critical look at various presidential candidates and decided to present Jonathan. We urge Nigerians to vote for the current administration for continuity.

“This is not by any means casting aspersions on the credibility of the other presidential candidates; we only believe we should rather have continuity at this stage.

“Democracy does not give the opportunity to insult people and some of our leaders must understand that the younger ones are looking up to them.”
