PDP Lampoons APC For Linking Jonathan To OPC’s Violent Protest In Lagos

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has lampooned the All Progressives Congress, APC, for trying to link President Goodluck Jonathan to Monday’s violent protests by members of the Yoruba militia group, Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, in Lagos.

In a statement on Wednesday, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, described the allegation as a cheap blackmail and part of the mind game being played by the opposition party in their spirited effort to discredit and scuttle the electoral process.

The PDP said it was absurd for anybody to attempt to link President Jonathan to a protest and disagreements involving rival factions of an organization such as the OPC adding that the president has proven himself to be a peaceful, humble and forthright leader with unparalleled inclination for political accommodation.

The party therefore advised the APC to face its dwindling electoral fortune and shed the penchant for false alarms and unsubstantiated allegations against President Jonathan and the PDP-led Federal Government.

The PDP said as a highly responsible party commanding the respect and support of majority of the Nigerian voting population, it remains committed to the peace, stability and prosperity of the nation.

It however restated its call to all stakeholders in the electoral process and security agencies to ensure that all activities regarding the general elections are conducted in an orderly manner.
