A strange oval-shaped object which with the semblance of an egg was recently discovered inside the body of a 62-year-old man.
The discovery sent some chills down the spines of the surgeons at a hospital in Washington, D.C.
Despite bearing a strong resemblance to an egg, it turned out to be a benign 3.34-inch growth, according to Huffington Post.
Describing the strange object, an urologist, Dr. Rachael Sussman said, “The mass was likely made of a small piece of fat that fell away from its attachments when the patient was very young.
“Over time the fat calcified and continued to grow. Like a pearl inside an oyster.”
New England Journal of Medicine published a report on the object recenmtly although it was removed in 2013.
The authors, Dr Sussman and Dr Jonah Murdock, stated that it is the largest growth of its kind removed from a human body.
