Last Minute Moves: Muazu, Jonathan, Sambo, Mark, Anenih, others in crucial meeting


ABUJA-AHEAD of the Presidential and general elections slated for March 28 and April 11 and a part of last minute moves to perfect the wrongs, National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Adamu Muazu has summoned President Goodluck Jonathan, Vice President Namadi Sambo, Senate President David Mark and Deputy National Chairman of PDP, Prince Uche Secondus
to a marathon meeting.

Also to attend the meeting are the Chairman, Board of Trustees, BoT of the PDP, Chief Tony Anenih, Director- General of PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, PDPPCO and former National Chairman, Alhaji Ahmadu Ali; former Deputy National Chairman of PDP, Chief Olabode George, Chief Godswill Akpabio, Governor of Akwa Ibom State and Chairman, PDP Governors’ Forum; Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, Secretary to the Government of the Federation; and Retired Brigadier General James Arogbofa, Chief of Staff to the President.

The meeting which is under the aegis of National Campaign Council, NCC which has Muazu as the Chairman would hold today at the Wadata Plaza, National Secretariat of the PDP, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.

According to a text an SMS signed by Adamu Muazu and obtained by Vanguard, the meeting which would hold at 2 pm, would be attended by Other members of the council which former Minister of Works, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, who is the deputy Director General, head office; Honourable Kabiru Turaki, Deputy Director General North and Mr. Peter Obi, Deputy Director General, South.

The text read, “The National Chairman of the PDP and Chairman of the PDP National Campaign Council, (NCC) wishes to invite members of the Council to a crucial meeting at the PDP National Secretariat on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 by 2 pm. Signed: Ahmadu Adamu Muazu.”

The Zonal coordinators of the NCC are Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River State, South South; Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State, South East; Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State, South West; Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue State, North Central; Governor Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe State, North East; and Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State, North West.

Former National Chairmen who are members of the NCC and would also attend the meeting are Prince Vincent Ogbulafor, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo and Dr. Bello Haliru Mohammed, just as Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs, Professor Rufai Ahmed Alkali would also attend.

It would be recalled that the NCC was inaugurated December last year for the 2015 general election.

Though the agenda of the meeting was not made known, Vanguard gathered that as the first since its inauguration, members of the Council would carry our a comprehensive assessment of campaigns so far, what must be done to win the election, where the party got it wrong and how to make amend.

Vanguard gathered that as leaders of the party, the would discuss the raging controversy surrounding the use of Permanent Voters Card, PVCs, the Card Reader machines as well as the test carried out on the machines by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
