"There Was No Discussion Between Nigeria And USA On Gay Marriage" - Says Buhari's Media Aide

Following wide speculation that president Barack Obama would persuade or convince Nigeria's president, Muhammadu Buhari on the issue of same sex marriage during his official visit to the United states, the presidential media aide to president Buhari has refuted those beliefs saying both countries (Nigeria and USA) had discussions on mainly bilateral issues.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, who is also in the US made this known through his official Facebook page... He wrote; There was nothing on gay marriage. The discussion was purely on bilateral issues.

The US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, had earlier stated prior to Buhari's trip that the US would continue to persuade Nigeria until it legalizes same-sex marriage.

America recently legalised gay marriage, a development, which sparked off mixed reactions across the globe.
